Simon received his medical degree from the University of Umea in 2022. In December 2022, Simon will commence his medical internship (AT) at Sollefteå Hospital, Sweden. He is a PhD student at Umea University, Dept of Clinical Sciences, Ophthalmology, with Associate professor Gauti Johannesson as main supervisor and Pete Williams as co-supervisor. Simon’s research will explore and investigate possible pathophysiological mechanisms in glaucoma, including mitochondrial dysfunction, vascular dysregulation and inflammation. The goal of his research is to increase the understanding of glaucoma as well as identify new diagnostic biomarkers.
